Sursa Shawl

I finished my Sursa Shawl on Monday night. It took quite some time to knit the ruffle around it. I had so many stitches on the cable needles to make it ruffle. It took an entire hour to knit one row on the ruffled edge. The pattern called for 6 rows. So that was 6 hours alone just on that edging. The shawl itself knit up rather quickly. I would say I started it about a week and a half ago or so.

Shebear's Traveling Scarf

I just sent out Shebear's scarf today. I stayed up last night working on it to get it finished. All the scarves traveling around have so many additions to them. It is nice to look at all the squares everyone has done and admire all the beautiful yarns that have been used.

Dish Rag Tag

Dish Rag Tag is a game I joined. It just began last week. There are 300 participants. Here is some info about the race.

The Short Version:Teams of Knitters will participate in a Dish Rag Knitting Relay Race that spans the 50 states.

The Longer Version:Teams of Knitters will participate in a Dish Rag Knitting Relay Race that spans the 50 states.There will be a box (the baton) that circulates through the team.Each box will be packed with a finished dish rag, two balls of dish rag cotton (you know the kind I mean: Sugar’n Cream, Peaches & Creme, or a similar cotton) and a small treat (stitch markers, a candy bar, one of those “what size is my needle” thingys).When a knitter receives the box, the knitter will report that she or he is “it”, and empty the box keeping the enclosed dishrag and treat.The knitter will then knit a new dishrag with the cotton in the box. The idea is to use one ball of yarn to make a dishrag and keep the other one for personal use, but that should not keep you from knitting a two color dish rag if you want.Dish rags may be any pattern, but must be standard dishrag size: 9 inches square or in diameter.**You may not start knitting your dishrag until you receive the box. This is cheating and will make William Henry cry. Not to mention ruining the fun for your whole team.**When the dish rag is finished, it goes back in the box with two new balls of dish rag cotton and a small treat (see above) and will be Priority Mailed to an untagged team member. The first box to make it through a team’s members and return to the Miracle Household wins! Prizes will be announced at a later date.The whole thing (even with priority shipping) should cost less than $12 per participant and take up a little more time than knitting a dishrag.

There will be prizes for the top three placing teams and additional individual prizes based on merit (even if your team is dead last, you have a chance at Personal Dish Rag Tag Glory). The members of all placing teams to receive the same prize. And of course, everyone will receive a wonderful dish rag to enhance their kitchen or bathroom.

Corn Festival

Today I went to the Corn Festival. I did not bring my camera. Actually, I was on my way to Kroger to pick up a few things. I spotted the festival and I had to stop for a look.
I picked up a bare wood stool and a little bare wood cradle bed for a few stuffed animals.

Dishcloths For AMH Exchange

This is the exchange going out to Roxanna for the dishcloth exchange. I finished it this morning. I made a knit square squidge dishcloth from a free pattern online. I crocheted the other two items. One round dishcloth with a ruffle around it and the other is a small microwave potholder that is double thick. I wanted to make them matching so she would have a little summer set.
I also knit the cupcake dishcloth. I found that cute little journal and stickers at Barnes & Noble.
Later today J is taking me to a butterfly exhibit and botanical gardens. I will post photos when I get a chance.

This is a dishcloth swap sent to me by Roxanna who also lives in Ohio. She made me three dishcloths. She also sent some honey for biscuits. My hubby will like that! Some watermellon soap and a sunflower pen. Thanks, Roxanna what a super swap. I am working on Roxanna's I will send it out this weekend. Roxanna and I belong to a yahoo email group for crocheters and knitters called At My House. We trade free online free patterns and recipes.
It is loads of fun. I have been on it for many years.

Swap-bot Apron Swap

My apron swap arrived on Friday. I did an apron swap on Swap-bot. Mine had a cupcake theme. I think it turned out so cute. She even made a dish towel that was hand embroidered. I love it! Here is her website in case you want to check out what else she does.

I also made it to a new yarn shop this weekend in Centerville. I loved it. It was in an attic above an antique shop. I found a pattern that I had ordered about four months ago. I had ordered the pattern and the yarn to make the pattern online. The yarn came in and the pattern was placed on back order. Later they notified me the pattern was discontinued. I also ended up with some super cotton yarn I had been searching for.

My sister Gail sent me this great box of books. I got home from the gym tonight to find them waiting inside my doorway. I am so excited to get lots of new things to read. I haven't read any of them yet. We both like the same sorts of books. They all look great!

Jeremiah was out in our garden taking some photos of the pretty flowers in bloom. We were going to go to the City's gardens and butterfly exhibit but, I ended up working on Saturday. So he just took photos of our flowers. Next weekend we are going to try to go to the gardens.

I thought I would post another scarf that was visiting me for the past week and a half. I sent this one out on Friday morning to Nashville. The traveling scarf rotation is the same for each scarf.
