Cincinnati Symphony

Cincinnati Symphony
Originally uploaded by whirledpeas00

On Saturday afternoon after the fiber fest we left for Cincinnati. I would say this is the 3rd time we have been this particular location to listen. I admit to sometimes taking a snooze while listening.
But, this time I was watching a small boy in a box seat down below pretend to be a conductor. He was very intertaining and by the 3rd piece I looked down in his box to find him asleep. I guess he wore himself out. I thought to myself it happens to the best of us.

Dyed Sock Blanks

Originally uploaded by whirledpeas00

This is an interesting display. The sock blanks tied on the fence are hand dyed woven yarn scarves. Well, they look like scarves. You unravel them and knit them directly into socks. The socks behind were knit from the sock blanks.
You can purchase the blanks not dyed and dye them your self.

Pretty Petals Potholder

I just finished this hotpad last night. The other day I was on Ravelry and I saw one of these and wanted to try out the pattern. It is an old pattern from 1946. I crocheted it with Lily Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn in the colorway Patio Pinks.
I think it will be nice to set a hot pot on since it has two layers.

Mom's Baby Chicks

Baby Chicks two days old 4/12/09
Originally uploaded by lmp1942

Let me just say, this is an odd story. My Mom decided she wanted to raise chickens. She built a chicken coop awhile back. She decided not to get any chickens until Spring. A neighbors chicken came over to her ranch and laid a bunch of eggs. My Mom decided to hold the chicken hostage with the eggs until they hatched. The babies were born on Easter weekend. I hope one day the owner of the chicken gets her back. I think I would be wondering where did my chicken go?

I took a piece of cotton fabric and stitched a drawing of a bunny I came up with. I used a green piece of felt for the backing.

Dorothy Lane Market Killer Brownie

When, I moved to Ohio I stumbled upon this brownie. I have been searching on the net for the calorie content. I am sure there are other people wondering what it is also.
They are the best brownie I have ever tasted, but I can see why.
I decided to post it on my blog when I found it so everyone else looking can find it also.

The Original has 370 calories (190 calories from fat)
Not a Nutter has 370 calories (170 calories from fat)
German Chocolate has 380 calories (220 calories from fat)
Peanut Butter has 440 calories (230 calories from fat)

Here is the kicker each brownie serves 4. So, take the calories listed above and 4 times the original 370 calories = 1480 calories in each original brownie. I found out the kicker while reading this blog. Very sneeky but pretty tasty.

Shopping Bag

I finished this bag last night. It is a free pattern on the web at http://www.purlbee.com/elisa-nest-tote/ .
I have made this pattern several times. I usually modify the pattern by making a garter stitch base. I pick up around the rectangle for the base and then follow the pattern. I have somewhat modified the top of the bag so it has a larger opening. I use the handles from this free bag pattern. http://disdressed.blogspot.com/2006/08/string-bag.html
