Scallops Pot Holders

Scallops Pot Holders

One more set of these finished. You could say they are a special order. I will put them out in the mail if the roads are clear in the next few days. My Mom emailed me for a specific colored set. I hope these colors are what you wanted.
These were made from a pattern in The Ultimate Book of Pot Holders by Annie's Attic.
They go pretty quickly. I made the fronts and backs last night and put them together this morning after breakfast. (while watching My Cousin Vinny)

Pink Little Ditty Bag

I made this little crocheted bag in the car on the way to the Natural History Museum today. I have made this pattern many times before it always turns out great. The pattern is a free one on Dot's website.
I used pink and white cotton and I added some Regia Pompon in the middle part for a couple of rows.

Matchbox Bed and Doll Swap

Yesterday, this little matchbox with a baby bed inside it arrived from The Netherlands. I think it is so cute. I got it in a swap on swap-bot. The lady who made it is named Ilona.
It has a little doll in the bed and a pillow under her head. She even made a little book for the doll to read in bed.

Scallops Pot Holder Set

So, I was digging thru all my old crochet pattern books and found the pattern for the Scallops pot holders.
It was from the Ultimate Book of Pot Holders by Annie's Attic.
They are double thick and crocheted with wrong sides together back to back.
I think they are cute. I love the edging color. It makes me think of spring or summertime. I long for warmer weather since it has been snowing here for the past 3 days.

Chrysanthemum Dishcloth

My MIL sent me this free pattern from Michael's. I thought I would try it out last night while we watched Apolo and the Olympics. It is a dishcloth that is crocheted. It made me think about another pattern I have made before that looks similar to it. So, ofcourse I had to find it and make them also.

Wintertime Knit Dishcloth

I made this dishcloth from a Michael's free pattern. It was supposed to look like a ballband. The pattern was meant to be a flat, easy version of the ballband. I think I like the modified ballband the most out of all of my samples I tried out.

The original pattern calls for 45 + (my additional) 4 = 49 should be your new cast on amount.
On the right side rows I knit the first two stitches and slipped the last two stitches WYIB.
On the wrong side rows I purled the first two stitches and slipped the last two stitches WYIF.
It did make a nicer edge than the original pattern.
I am sure if I took the time to block it out it would look perfect.
But, I don't think I want to block out something I am washing dishes with.

Ballband Dishcloths

Here are another set of ballband dishcloths. After the 4th one I decided there has got to be a way to make the edges more neatly.

Ballband Dishcloths - Knit

You could say it has been dishcloth week around here. I was working on a baby blanket for Jennifer and I got a bit distracted with a few dishcloths. I am about 3/4 of the way done with the blanket I will take a photo when I finish it completely.
If you would like to find the Ballband pattern it is in a book called Mason Dixon Knitting.

Valentine's Day Cake

Valentines Day Cake

One of my friends told me about making a box cake mix with lower calories. All you do is take the box mix and don't add any of the ingredients but one can of diet soda. I just took this dry cake mix and added one can of diet Sprite to it. If you are making a cocolate cake you would add a brown diet soda to it.
It turns out to be 100 calories per slice or per cupcake with the diet soda addition instead of the eggs. oil and water.

Sweet Heart Garland

Since it is Valentine's Day I decided to get my garland up on the wall.
Here it is in my craft room. I love it. I am glad I spent the time to make it.
Click on my flicker or the photo to see more shots of it. It goes around the room.

The garland pattern is located here. My inspiration came from here. So check it out!

Jeremiah took me out early this morning to a spinning class. The roads were pretty bad. I am so glad to see them cleaning them up.

It has taken awhile to block each of the hearts. I am in the process of crocheting them all together in a garland to hang up.

Sweet Heart Garland - Crochet

The pattern for the sweet heart garland is located at Bella Dia's Blog.
I also found Lucy's version of the garland here.
I think you will find the heart shape fun to crochet. It goes pretty quickly.

Baked Oatmeal

Baked Oatmeal

3 Cups Oatmeal
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
Sweetner ( I used 1/2 cup splenda)
(original recipe calls for 1 cup brown sugar)
1 Tablespoon Vanilla
1 Cup FF Milk
1/2 Cup Applesauce
2 Eggs (or eggbeaters)

Optional (but yummy additions)
1 Mashed Ripe Banana
1 1/2 Cups Berries (I used Strawberries, Blueberries and Blackberries)

Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix everything and spread in 9X9 pan and bake 30 to 45 minutes. The recipe called for 30 minutes but I ended up baking 45 due to all the added berries.
Wonderful breakfast!

Chantel's Cranberry Chicken

Cranberry Chicken

1 lb chicken ( I used boneless skinless breasts)
1/4 to 1/2 cup Chili Sauce
1 can whole cranberry sauce
1/4 cup dried cranberries

I cut up the chicken and browned it in a non-stick pan. Then I added the rest of the ingredients and let it simmer a few minutes.
Just spoon over rice. It was delicious. I got this recipe from a friend when we lived in Augusta, GA.
I thought you might like to try it!

Heart Dotee Swap

I made this Dotee Doll for a Valentine's Day swap on Swap-bot.
The only requirement was the doll had to have a heart somewhere on her body. I will post a photo of the Dotee I get in return.
I also included a few little treats so she can make another doll in the future. I hope she likes purple.
